Agile Product Ownership : A Guide to Leading Agile Teams and Creating Great Products

Bart Gerardi, "Agile Product Ownership : A Guide to Leading Agile Teams and Creating Great Products"
2013 | EPUB | 152 pages | ISBN: 1530399882 | English | 0.1 MB

The purpose of this book is to better clarify the role of Agile Product Owner. This information is valuable to anyone who is taking on the role of product owner, as well as anyone involved in an Agile project at all. We will also cover bits and pieces of Agile Project Management, and the Agile methodology in general. However, the focus will be on product ownership, and will cover topics such as:

• Product vision
• Creating and maintaining a product backlog
• Release planning and tracking
• Using meetings effectively
• Differences between traditional and Agile product ownership

This guide should allow for a framework to properly execute the role of product owner in many flavors of Agile, from Scrum to Kanban, XP to Lean. We will focus on software development projects, but the principles will hold true for most products.
This book will certainly be valuable to those who find themselves managing Agile projects, but project management will not be the focus. It’s also not intended to be an introduction to Agile; the book will assume that you are at least passingly familiar with most of the concepts and terminology. It’s also not intended to be a comprehensive treatise on product management; there are many aspects of good product management that won’t be covered, such as how to do market research, how to do analysis, etc. This book is going to cover how a good product owner interacts with an Agile team to deliver a valuable product.

The aim of this book is to instruct product owners what it means to be a product owner in an Agile sense, and how to use the role to create and ship great products. In the end, that’s what it’s all about, right?
