Boolean Algebra

Henry Graham Flegg, "Boolean Algebra"
1971 | pages: 157 | ISBN: 0356036022 | DJVU | 1,6 mb

This is a revised and shortened version of Boolean Algebra and Its Application, originally published by Blackie and Son Ltd in 1964. The two final chapters of the original edition, which were devoted entirely to matrices with Boolean components, have been removed together with various appendices and references, and a new chapter setting Boolean algebra in its general mathematical context has been provided. Opportunity has also been taken to make a nufaber of minor corrections to the original text. In its present revised form, Boolean Algebra provides a general introduction to the algebra of two-state devices, suitable fof mathematicians and engineers and also for others who may be interested in this important branch of modern mathematics. As far as is possible, the author makes use of little or no previous specialised knowledge on the part of the reader, and the book may be read with confidence by those with only a slight knowledge of mathematics. New concepts are introduced gradually and, wherever possible, use has been made of diagrams and tables. Applications of the algebra to sets, logic and switches are discussed in turn and in each case from first principles, and a few references are provided for those who wish to pursue selected topics further.
