finally got back her own ongoing series after more than 26 years. In between there had been a miniseries and various appearances in other Marvel titles. Until recently she had been held captive by Skrulls and her good name had been dragged through the mud. Spider-Woman aka Jessica Drew sits around feeling sorry for herself until Abigail Brand offers her the chance to exact a little revenge on the alien race who wronged her by becoming an agent of S.W.O.R.D. and hunting down the remaining Skrulls who are still in hiding. Issue #1 goes through the origin of Spider-Woman in a nutshell and recaps the whole Skrull invasion story that nicely sets up the status quo. Eisner award winner Alex Maleev carries his distinctive granular artwork over from Daredevil (Jessica has a face!), and Brian Michael Bendis puts his stamp with a first person approach. Issues #1-5 comprise the initial story arc. Originally, this new Spider-Woman series was released as a "Motion Comic". First, short stories were made about the pages later printed in this series. The story is the same, and had Spider-Woman voiced by Nicolette Reed, with an English accent. Stephanie Thomas voices Abigail Brand and Geoff Boothby does the Spider-Man Skrull voice. American actress Jolynn Carpenter is credited as Alex Maleev's model for Spider-Woman, which adds to the gritty detail of the comic book and which is the reason why Spider-Woman's character seems to have added depth and realism. Marvel solicitations state the ongoing series contains new material not seen in the motion comic, though. The ongoing series is the logical follow-through of the five-issue miniseries launched December 21, 2005. That miniseries, included complete in this post as a single-download RAR archive, explores in detail the history of Jessica Drew and how she became Spider-Woman. All five origin issues are Minutemen scans. With the exception of the maiden issue which is a GreenGiant DCP scan, the rest of the new ongoing series are also Minutemen scans.
