Spider-Man and The Secret Wars #2 (Of 4)

Marvel revisits the scene of the original Secret Wars crossover storyline with ol' webhead taking center stage. This time Spider-Man and Ben Grimm in his human form explore the city of Denver that has been relocated by the Beyonder for Battleworld (for reasons still beyond me) and defend it against a race of aliens, with an unexpected ally. From the hilarious tongue-in-cheek interplay and poking fun of the first issue, the second issue plays it as a straight action story. For me the funniest part is still why Denver, of all places..? I'll withhold further comment.

When the Beyonder created Battleworld, he stocked it with far more than Earth's greatest heroes and worst villains. Now, two of these other elements, the city of Denver, Colorado and a warlike alien race known as the Spindlies, are on major collision course. With the other heroes occupied elsewhere, it's up to Ben Grimm and the amazing Spider-Man to stand or fall with the city.
